Scéalta: Capturing our Community’s History

Brent Irish Advisory Service (BIAS) are currently looking for volunteers to get involved with their new project, Scéalta (‘stories’), which will run as part of the borough-wide Becoming Brent initiative.

The project is centred around documenting and celebrating the stories and contributions of the Irish community in Brent. Volunteers will start by interviewing and recording people’s migration stories and then collaborate on creative ways to share them – from curating an exhibition or hosting a public event. This initiative aims to respond to the legacy and impact of the 1924-25 British Empire Exhibition and challenge colonial narratives by offering a new perspective on Brent’s heritage.

This is a hands-on opportunity for those interested in migration, storytelling, art, people and/or diasporas. Full training and support will be provided throughout. If you are interested, get in touch!
