As part of the annual 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, Safe in Faith, a project of Caritas Westminster, has partnered with the Faith and VAWG Coalition to launch the #FaithOn4th campaign, with the aim of exploring issues around faith, women’s rights and the commitment to end violence against women and girls (VAWG).
This year’s topic is ‘Why Keep the Faith?’, and will centre around the experiences of survivors from faith backgrounds; in a world where religion and faith institutions are often wielded as tools of patriarchy and systemic oppression, the event will explore why faith and community is an important feature of survivors’ road to safety and healing.
The event will be held at Our Lady of Victories parish in Kensington, and is open to anyone working to end violence against women in faith settings.
The day will include opportunities for people working in the field to support each other and share ideas, and will also include a talk by Nikki Dhillon Keane (Head of Safe in Faith), creative workshops, poetry reading and an Ethiopean coffee ceremony.
