For the Church, charity is not a kind of welfare activity which could equally well be left to others, but a part of her nature, an indispensable expression of her very being.

Pope Benedict, Deus Caritas Est (2006)

Caritas Westminster is the social action agency of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Westminster. The diocese is one of the smallest in England and Wales in geographical area, but the largest in terms of Catholic population and priests. The diocesan boundaries include the London boroughs north of the River Thames, between the River Lea to the east and the borough of Hillingdon to the west, the county of Hertfordshire to the north and the borough of Spelthorne in Surrey.

Caritas Westminster was established in May 2012 although our Deaf Service can trace its roots back to the 1920s and our support for people with learning disabilities dates back to 1977. Our mission is to respond, through coordinated social action, to the spiritual and material needs of all who live and work in the diocese.

All our work is underpinned by the values embodied in Catholic Social Teaching, you can read more about these here.
