As part of our support of Mitzvah Day, Caritas Westminster is hosting an online meeting for organisations and parishes to share ideas for supporting Refugees and Asylum Seekers.
The meeting will include presentations from representatives of the Jesuit Refugee Service, Housing Justice and the Anglican Diocese of Southwark.
Speakers will include:
- Dr Sophie Cartwright (Senior Policy Officer, Jesuit Refugee Service UK) on the UK’s largest Catholic refugee charity launching its Advent Appeal in aid of providing accommodation for very vulnerable people, having seen a huge increase in homelessness amongst the refugees that they serve this year.
- Jenna Roberts (London Hosting Project Manager, Housing Justice) on their Hosting Project for destitute migrants with restricted eligibility and insecure immigration status, and the Refugee Lodgings project for newly-granted refugees at risk of homelessness following an eviction from Home Office accommodation.
- Natalie Walters (Head of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation, Anglican Diocese of Southwark) will share the challenges and ways we are all trying to support our churches in addressing concerns, having recently produced a guide to post-asylum support with partners including Caritas Westminster.
