Hope at Home
Safe homes for survivors of slavery
Do you have a spare room and are able to welcome someone as they stay with you?
Hope at Home is a charity that trains and support hosts across the UK who have a spare room and a loving heart to welcome survivors into their homes. Our hosts are couples, families, singles and retirees who care about the marginalised in society and want to see individuals find freedom. Hope at Home could be another way for you to bring individuals into freedom, through offering a spare bedroom.
Would you or someone in your organisation be able to help someone like Abby, Hemin or Ava?
- Abby is an African lady who is being supported as an identified victim of modern slavery. She is a Christian and would like to live where she can continue to meet with her friends and continue her English and Maths courses and finish her work programme. She has applied for permission to work on the shortage occupation list and will be looking to apply for work once this is granted. Abby will either move in to asylum accommodation or look for private rental accommodation after her placement finishes.
- Hemin is a Pakistani man who has been identified as a victim of modern slavery. Hemin is a refused asylum seeker and after his placement, will be moving into asylum accommodation. Hemin enjoys spending time with his friends and will continue to receive support from his support worker and other professionals.
- Ava is a British lady who has a survivor of modern slavery. She is waiting for Local Authority Housing and enjoys going to the gym and walking in local parks and nature areas.
Becoming a Hope at Home host is incredibly rewarding and enriches family life in so many ways. Whilst we are looking for hosts who are able to provide a spare room and access to kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities, hosting is really about loving, accepting and welcoming a person. We offer training and ongoing support to all our hosts.
We would love to talk to you more about hosting and what it involves. Please get in touch by sending us a message.
