Caritas Bakhita House supports call for renewed action to end modern slavery

|

Caritas Bakhita House is proud to support the launch of Decade of Dignity: A Strategic Vision for Eradicating Modern Slavery in the UK – a major new report setting out a ten-year roadmap to tackle exploitation, strengthen survivor support, and restore the UK’s leadership in the fight against modern slavery.

Produced by a coalition of leading anti-slavery organisations, the report warns that the UK has become a “low risk, high reward” environment for traffickers and exploiters, with fragmented systems and inconsistent support leaving survivors vulnerable. It calls for urgent national action built around four priorities: stronger corporate accountability, a tougher justice response, long-term survivor recovery, and a joined-up strategy to protect children from exploitation.

At a time when more people are being identified as potential victims of modern slavery across the UK, Decade of Dignity is a timely call for coordinated leadership, practical reform and hope for a future free from exploitation.

As a signatory to the report, Caritas Bakhita House welcomes this ambitious vision for change. The report’s emphasis on long-term recovery and survivor-centred support closely reflects the work of Caritas Bakhita House, where women are empowered through tailored care, community, education and pathways to independence.
