Young Carers Crew (North Hertfordshire & Stevenage)
Providing support to young carers in Stevenage & North Herts
Our small charity is run by a board of Trustees together with a paid Group Manager. We need to find one or more Trustees to join the team.
Our mission is to support local young carers (aged 8 to 18) through running a fortnightly group with fun activities and with a chance to gain emotional support there too – plus occasional trips.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
A new Trustee will work with the team behind the scenes to ensure the safe running of the group. Depending on your skills and strengths, you may be involved in fund-raising, administration, human resources, organisation of training, or any number of different roles.
You will find it very rewarding, as the group places a high value on the contribution of the trustees. You may also occasionally be able to visit the group in person, and it can be very rewarding seeing the enjoyment these young carers gain from participation in the group.
ABOUT YOUNG CARERS CREW
Young Carers Crew (YCC) is an independent charity based in Stevenage that provides respite and support to young carers living in Stevenage and North Hertfordshire. The young carers are young people aged 8-18 who are primary or secondary carers for a member of their family.
We run fortnightly sessions and occasional outings where we hope they can ‘just be themselves’ and enjoy their time at the group.
YCC also aims to serve as a place for the young carers to get any support they may need from other young carers, or the volunteers at the group.
Hours per week: Between 1 and 6 hours
