Caritas St Joseph's

A centre for adults with intellectual disabilities to learn

We have several exciting opportunities for volunteers to work with Caritas St Joseph’s Pastoral Centre Connect@ staff in our hubs in Feltham, Hounslow or North Harrow.

The aims of Caritas St Joseph’s are to support individuals with learning difficulties and their families and to increase awareness and understanding of the needs and gifts of adults with learning difficulties in such a way that this awareness leads to new and positive attitudes which promote individual dignity and growth and enable the fulfilment of each person’s potential. As such we offer a range of high-quality classes in Cookery, Art, and Dance and a monthly Social for SEN adults.

Please consider any regular commitment you would be willing to make, whether that be 2 hours once a week or 3 hours once a month, or more. This post would suit someone caring, kind and patient. The main aims would be to support the tutor in the lesson aims for that day by encouraging students to take part, and enjoying the lesson yourself is sometimes the best way to encourage our students!

We would also be sensitive to and facilitate your own objectives for joining us, whether that be that you need some experience for your CV or university; you have retired and want to join something local and fun that supports others; you are a parent with children in school and have a small amount of time in the morning/afternoon to support others in your local community; you are between jobs or changing career paths and looking for experience.

If you are interested please do not hesitate to send us a message to introduce yourself and enable us to answer any questions you may have.
