On Thursday the 1st of December, Caritas Westminster launched Love in Action, with an event at Our Lady of Victories, Kensington.
Love in Action is a parish programme designed to introduce congregations, schools, youth, or faith-sharing group to the principles of Catholic social teaching (CST). After completing the programme, groups will have the tools to reflect on the needs of their own communities and start their own social outreach projects.
At the launch, attendees were invited to participate in stations relating to the themes of Love in Action, and to think about the needs of their local community.
Bhp Paul McAleenan introduced the evening, giving an account of his experience of running Love in Action. This was followed by an explanation of the programme, by one of the authors, Danny Curtin. Fr Shaun Middleton then gave an explanation of the outcomes that running Love in Action had in his parish, including giving details of five new social action projects that have been started. This was followed by Caritas’ Phoebe Prendergast explaining how to use the website and access the resources. Bishop Paul then closed the evening with thank you’s and a prayer.
