The Season of Creation 2026 is almost upon us, and this year’s theme is “Living Water”, inspired by Ezekiel 47:9,12.
From 1 September to 4 October, Christians around the world come together for this annual season of prayer and action for the protection of our Common Home.
It is a time to celebrate God as Creator, to give thanks for the gift of Creation, and to reflect on our shared responsibility to care for it. As followers of Christ, we recognise that we are part of Creation and that our own wellbeing is deeply connected with the wellbeing of the Earth.
The Season of Creation website offers a range of prayers, resources and practical ideas to help parishes, schools and communities take part.
Caring for Creation across Westminster
Across the Diocese of Westminster, our parishes and schools are already finding creative and practical ways to care for our Common Home. Here are just a few examples:
- St Mark’s Catholic School, Hounslow
Students have created a beautiful mural inspired by the Canticle of Creation, using recycled plastic bottle tops. The school also recently held a retreat day focused on Laudato Si’ and caring for Creation. - St Patrick’s Church, Neasden
The parish has created an edible garden, growing food for its own community and making productive use of its green space. - Our Lady of Fatima Church, White City
The parish produces some of its own energy through rooftop solar panels and hosts an annual Sustainability Fair during October. - Our Lady Immaculate and St Andrew Church, Hitchin
A weekly food pantry redistributes surplus food donated by local supermarkets to families in need – helping both people and planet by preventing good food from going to waste. - St Margaret’s Church, Twickenham
On the third Saturday of each month, the parish hosts a Repair Café, offering free repairs for common household items, including electrical goods, and helping to extend their useful life.

These are just some of the many inspiring initiatives taking place across our Diocese. Many are made possible by dedicated volunteers who give their time, skills and energy to caring for our Common Home and their local communities.
