Innovative youth work equips parishioners to reach young people aged 16-25 who are ‘on the edge’ and at risk of social exclusion – creating an in-between space, a “Courtyard” of welcome and purpose.
This Courtyard Worker will be based in North London and will work to support five new parishes each year as they begin their own volunteer led Courtyard projects. The Courtyard Worker will have the support of the Courtyard Coordinator. They will help the parish to recruit volunteers and train them to engage with young people in their local area. Along with the Courtyard Coordinator, the Courtyard Worker will enable these parishes to use resources developed in the pilot to embed the vision of Courtyard and deliver external and internal relational youth work.
Courtyard is sponsored by Million Minutes, a charity rooted in Catholic social teaching that enables young people to make a difference in their world and to be the difference in their world. The successful applicant will have an understanding and experience of working in the Catholic Church. This role is subject to the safe recruitment procedures of the Catholic Church.
Role begins: The role is advertised for a September 2017 start. However if the successful applicant is available before this, an earlier start date can be negotiated.
How to apply: Complete the application form including a supporting statement outlining how you match the Person Specification and send to courtyard@millionminutes.org by 5pm 31 March 2017.
