To mark the Jubilee of Volunteering on 8-9 March, Caritas Westminster was thrilled to host their annual Volunteering Fair, to encourage voluntary service across the Diocese of Westminster. The fair was hosted by the Caritas Volunteer Service, which organises regular events to support volunteering in the diocese.
Held in Westminster Cathedral Hall on Saturday 8th March, the fair featured 25 stalls from charities spanning a range of causes, from food banks, homelessness initiatives and faith-based ministries to support for the elderly, refugees and those facing marriage difficulties. The complete list of charities is available on the event page.
The event was attended by over 100 parishioners and members of the public, who were able to speak to charity representatives at their respective stalls, with charities reporting over 200 sign-ups to find out more about their volunteering opportunities.
Elke Springett, Volunteer Coordinator at Caritas Westminster, commented: ‘It was wonderful to meet so many people embodying the theme of “Pilgrims of Hope” at our Jubilee Volunteering Fair; their enthusiasm for making a positive change in the world was palpable, and many connections were made. I am grateful to everyone who participated for making this event possible.’
You can join our mission of supporting social action in our diocese by becoming a Caritas Parish Representative, or explore opportunities to volunteer with our services.
The Caritas Volunteer Service looks forward to hosting another Volunteering Fair next year, and to providing ongoing support for volunteers across the diocese through events, resources and their online platform for volunteering opportunities.
