Providing specialist support for children and adults with Autism and their families

We need volunteers to provide a supportive and positive relationship to autistic young people to help them learn new skills, feel less isolated, work towards goals and access their local community.

Giving one-to-one support to an autistic person. This support may include having fun and exploring new interests, engaging in practical activities at the service user’s home and/or in their community, and supporting the development of confidence, self-esteem, and life skills.

What difference will you make?

This is a very rewarding role and a great opportunity to make a real positive difference. As well as supporting young autistic people, you will be learning and developing new skills and meeting people from diverse backgrounds.

What additional skills or experience you should have:

Previous experience of working with people with additional needs is not required. We are, however, looking for the following qualities and skills:

7. A professional approach to volunteering
8. Confidence in working with new people and situations

What training will we provide for you?

All our volunteers receive induction training, ongoing support, opportunities for further development, and references.

Our induction training covers autism awareness, safeguarding, communication & play and preparing for your role.

What you will get out of volunteering for us:

There are opportunities for volunteers to develop a range of skills including interpersonal communication, problem solving, planning, and listening skills.

Hours per week: Between 2 and 10 hours
