We support adults and children with learning disabilities to feel valued, listened to and included
We are looking for volunteers to help at our lively, upbeat and energetic dance session on a Friday morning from 10am – 11am in Borehamwood (WD6).
Hertsmere Mencap is a small and active charity, supporting a membership of 250 children and adults with a learning disability along with their families and carers. Our mission is for people with a learning disability to be valued equally, listened to and included.
Our dance sessions are run by Angie, our dance teacher and supported by volunteers.
Your main tasks are to:
- Encourage the members to participate fully in the dance session and show enthusiasm
- Help with setup and tidy up (minimal)
- Make sure our members feel listened to and valued
- Have fun!
We are looking for volunteers with good communication skills, empathy, patience and be ready to have a good time and feel inspired and rewarded.
All volunteers will be required to provide 2 references and complete a DBS check (paid for by Hertsmere Mencap) and we provide a range of training including Introduction to Learning Disabilities, First Aid and Epilepsy.
