Housing Justice Hosting Project

If you have a spare room in your home and would like to help a vulnerable migrant in a safe, supported way, Housing Justice would love to hear from you.

The Housing Justice Hosting project is powered by volunteer ‘hosts’ who make their spare room available for some of the most vulnerable people in our society. Being a host simply means opening up your home to somebody in need – somebody who has been through a lot and has nowhere else to turn. Receiving a guest into your home is a unique, humbling and deeply enriching experience, and your spare room could change somebody’s life.

We have provided more than 35,000 nights of hosting, with the project providing a lifeline for our guests during the pandemic. It takes between 4-6 weeks for a new host to be ready to welcome their first guest, so we are encouraging people to sign up now, so we are able to meet the increasing need for safe & stable accommodation.

Housing Justice provides our volunteer hosts with a support package that includes:

– Enhanced DBS check
– Online induction/training
– A Host Handbook
– Regular and ongoing support from Housing Justice staff for both you and your guest
– Regular Reflective Practice sessions with an external facilitator
– The opportunity to join a growing network of like-minded hosts across London
