Caritas Westminster is thrilled to announce the release of our Annual Review for 2025, containing highlights and achievements from the previous year.
The Annual Review showcases the many ways we serve the diocese; supporting parishes and schools to serve their communities through social action. Some of the initiatives spotlighted include the incredible work of primary school students participating in our Caritas Ambassadors programme, a community health check day at the Shrine of Our Lady of Willesden coordinated by Caritas Westminster in partnership with Brent Council, and celebrating outstanding volunteers at our annual ‘Love in Action’ Volunteering Awards.
Centred around our five long-term outcome areas — Wellbeing, Physical and Psychological Safety, Church Inclusion, Social Inclusion, and Financial Independence — the review also displays the work of our direct services, which include a safe house for survivors of human trafficking, support for the Deaf Community and people with physical and intellectual disabilities, a start-up hub for social entrepreneurs, financial support, and resources to tackle domestic abuse.
Highlights from the Annual Review include:
- £194,000 of financial aid distributed to people in our diocese
- 9,600 people supported with the cost of living through our voucher scheme
- 1,800 hours of support provided to survivors of trafficking by volunteers at Caritas Bakhita House
- 800 Caritas Ambassadors across 29 diocesan schools
- 100% satisfaction with domestic abuse awareness training offered by Safe in Faith
- 60 businesses supported by Seeds Hub
- 56 faith-related events facilitated by the Caritas Deaf Service
Richard Harries, Director of Caritas Westminster, commented:
2025 brought several milestones for Caritas Westminster; we marked important anniversaries, celebrated the Jubilee Year, developed our service provision and collaborated with charity partners across the diocese. I am pleased to share a selection of these achievements with you in our latest Annual Review.
Introducing the review, the Most Reverend Richard Moth, the new Archbishop of Westminster, noted:
The Church has a vital role to play in the betterment of our communities, and it is my hope that Catholic social action will continue to play a central role in bringing the Good News to our society.
