The Latest Update on our Projects and Services

Whilst we cannot run many of our services as usual, staff are doing their best to keep supporting people and to continue a sense of community.  To help us come back stronger than ever, please donate to the Cardinal’s Lenten Appeal.

Bakhita House this week welcomed a new baby, born to one of the guests. Mother and baby are doing well.

In order to look after the mental health of guests during the lockdown, staff have developed a full programme of activities, including online drama classes, art, and of course, the regular “family” meal times. Guests are encouraged to stay active.


St Joseph’s is now closed

Caritas leadership took the difficult decision to close the college on Thursday evening to protect the students, many of whom have underlying health conditions as well as intellectual disabilities. Some staff remain on site and available to support students and their families with telephone calls.


SEIDS has closed, meaning the start of the new training course has been delayed, and those who started their course in September have their sessions on hold. However, much is being done by providing telephone support and webinars, and the community is sti


Caritas Deaf Service have had to suspend all events, but SMS support is still available.

Our Counselling service continues remotely.

Caritas Food Collective are busier than ever, evaluating the needs of food projects and working with partners to redirect food that would have been delivered to schools. Our Development Team are contacting all parishes, foodbanks and other social action projects to find out how we can help – whether that is by sourcing funding or directing them to the Caritas Volunteer Service for volunteering needs.
