Caritas Bakhita House is delighted to announce a generous donation from AT&T, to support its vital work with survivors of Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery.
This funding will allow the safe house to continue its round-the-clock support for women recovering from experiences of exploitation. Through tailored, trauma-informed support programmes and a variety of therapeutic activities, Caritas Bakhita House provides a safe and welcoming environment focused on healing and community.
‘I am thrilled that AT&T is able to contribute to the work of Caritas Bakhita House,’ said John Slamecka, President of AT&T Business International. ‘We are proud to support the centre’s mission of helping survivors of Modern Slavery rebuild their lives.’
The services at Caritas Bakhita House include drama and music therapy, movement and art classes, as well as English language and practical skills training to help guests achieve independence. Additionally, the centre assists women in seeking justice against their exploiters, resulting in 223 years of prison sentences secured so far.
‘Without the financial support of donors like AT&T, our work simply could not continue,’ said Karen Anstiss, Head of Caritas Bakhita House. ‘I am proud of the journey of recovery that so many women have made staying with us, the joy of babies born to mothers in our care, and of guests’ bravery in helping bring their perpetrators to justice. Thank you; your support changes lives!’
Caritas Bakhita House is a safe house for survivors of modern slavery, exploitation and human trafficking. Since opening in 2015, the centre has provided accommodation to 205 women and 16 babies from almost 50 different countries.
